Alumni still have flare against current Stags

CLAREMONT, Calif. – On Sunday, September 25th former Stags from the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team took to Parents field to take on the current team. The alumni team came out victorious with a 4-3 win, having controlled possession for long stretches of the game.

The opening goal was scored by Luke Benedum (2004) off an assist from Joe Mondello (2016). Samir Singh(2000) and Lan Lai (2000) also added goals thanks to assists from Ryan McGlinn (2000) and Andy Preikshat (1997). Joe Mondello (2016) rounded out the scoring for the Alumni but was rightfully cautioned for over exuberant celebrations in front of the varsity bench. Recent graduates Corey Argumosa (2014), Alex Lichtenberg (2012), Joe Romana (2015) and Daniel Price (2015) played with class, controlling possession for most of the match. Seniors Mehron Abdi, Alex Censullo, Alex Choi, William Cresap, Michael Crowley, Elijah Lichtenberg, Ryan Karle, Cole Mora, Ian Shelton played supporting roles throughout the game and will no doubt ensure the alumni have a very strong team in the immediate future.

"I would like to thank all the alumni for coming out this weekend," noted Coach Matt Edwards. "I would like to see us grow this event engaging all former Stags. It is great to learn more about the history of this great program".

Special thanks to Harvey Goldhammer (1973), John Bolmer (1980) and Karl Heim (1980) for officiating the game. Former head coach Steven Davis was also in attendance.
