Kimura, Lemmon and Lichtenberg for CMS land on All-SCIAC men’s soccer team

PASADENA, Calif. – With the 2014 season in the books, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) released its All-Conference team on Nov. 12 and three Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer players were selected, including two first-teamers.

Senior defender Jaison Kimura (CMC) and junior midfielder Taylor Lemmon (CMC) were first team selections while sophomore defender Elijah Lichtenberg (CMC) made the second team.

Kimura and Lichtenberg were key defenders for a CMS defense that logged three shutouts in 2014 including a 2-0 home win over Pomona-Pitzer. Kimura had one goal on the season, the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over La Verne on Sept. 15. Lichtenberg finished second on the team in goals (4) and tied for second on the team in assists (4). He scored three of his goals in a 5-4 overtime win over Whittier on Oct. 27.

Lemmon finished third in the conference and led CMS in assists (8). He also finished second on the team in points (13) and added three goals. Lemmon had his two best matches of the season against Whittier, a two-goal game in a 4-0 win at Whittier on Sept. 27 and a three assist match in a 5-4 overtime win at home on Oct. 27.

CMS completed its season with a 9-7-1 overall record, 8-7-1 in conference play.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine athletic programs from private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, seasonal and annual basis.
