Stags Golf Takes Sixth Place at Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team finished in sixth place out of 30 teams in a field of some of the top teams in Division III golf on Sunday at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.
The Stags finished at +5 overall for the three round tournament, capping it off with its best round of the weekend on Sunday with a -1 (287). Top-ranked Emory had a dominant performance to win it, finishing at -22, with Carnegie Mellon finishing at -7 in second place and Christopher Newport also in the red at -2.
Kevin Jiang was the top individual finisher for CMS after carding his second 69 of the weekend on Sunday to finish at -4. Similar to his 69 on Friday, Jiang had three birdies and no bogeys on his round.
Alex Price of Christopher Newport won the individual title with a -14, shooting 67-67-68 over his three rounds, while the next three top finishers were all from Emory.
Vikram Chatterjee ended in a tie for 25th place at +2, and Will Parker vaulted up 33 spots to a tie for 30th with a 70 on Sunday to end at +3. Parker closed out with a birdie on the 18th, his third of the round (with just one bogey).
CMS will next be in action on April 1-2 at SCIAC No. 2, which will be held at Mountain Meadows.
