Ken Kong, Austin Long, Edward Wu Named to PING All-West Region Team

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Austin Long, junior Ken Kong and first-year Edward Wu earned spots on the PING All-West Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization announced today.

Long was a second-team All-SCIAC selection as a junior last year, while also earning Srixon/Cleveland Division III All-America Scholar honors. This year, he shot a 67 on the final day of the Bulldog Invitational to finish fourth out of 42 competitors, without a single bogey over his 18 holes. He had another top 10 finish (seventh of 48) at the first SCIAC regular season tournament to help the Stags to a 14-shot win.

Kong was a third-team GCAA All-America selection last year and a first-team All-SCIAC selection. He earned back-to-back individual medalist honors last year, winning The West Cup and the second SCIAC regular season tournament. This year, he finished third at the opening SCIAC regular season tournament, including a 70 on his opening round for a two-under par.

Wu captured the individual medalist honors at the first SCIAC regular season championship, earning him the SCIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week honor for the Stags.  He birdied seven of his first 13 holes at SCIAC #1, on his way to an opening-round 66 (-6) to help CMS to the individual title. In the fall, he opened his collegiate career with a par and a -1 over 36 holes at the Bulldog Invitational, followed by a -2 in the final round to end up at three under.

Long, Kong and Wu helped CMS emerge as the prohibitive favorites for the SCIAC title before spring sports were suspended. The Stags were ranked No. 7 in the nation in the final poll released by the GCAA after the abrput conclusion of the spring season.
