SCIAC Golf Championships begin Sunday for the Stags

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Just three strokes separate the top-three teams in the conference standings heading into the SCIAC Men's Golf Championships which run from Sunday, April 27 through Tuesday, April 29 at Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont, Calif. La Verne is the overall leader in the SCIAC standings while the No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team sits just one shot back, followed by Redlands three shots back.

The SCIAC Championships begin Sunday at noon PST with a shotgun start. Then on Monday and Tuesday, play gets underway at 7:30 a.m.

The conference champion is decided by total strokes from the two SCIAC Tournaments and the SCIAC Championships. In the two SCIAC Tournaments so far this season, CMS has finished in second place in both events.

The Stags are in search of the program's 10th conference championship and first since 1995. Last season, CMS finished in second place at the SCIAC Championships and then went on to a fifth place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships. CMS has two second place finishes in the last three years at the SCIAC Championships.
