CMS Golf Competes in Firestone Grill Invitational

The CMS Men's and Women's Golf Teams competed in the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational on October 4th and 5th at the Monarch Dunes Golf Club. 

The Stags scored 300 and 313 in the first two rounds, but really picked it up in the third round.  They scored 293, which tied them for the third lowest score of the round and helped them to place 8th in the tournament, just behind UC Riverside.

Tain Lee (JR, San Juan Capistrano) was the top golfer for the Stags, placing 12th in the tournament.  On a par-71 course he shot 73, 74 and 72 in rounds one, two and three respectively for a total score of 219. Robbie Garcia (FR, Pleasanton) finished just behind Lee with a total score of 220 after a brilliant third round, in which he scored one under par. Patrick Fujieki (FR, Honolulu, HI) and Michael Liu (JR, Tustin) each had one Eagle, while Jay Tymkovich had the fifth highest number of pars for the tournament.  As a team CMS was even for par-5 shooting and accumulated 31 birdies.

The Athenas finished 9th in the tournament with scores of 365, 370 and 349 for a total score of 1084.  Jackie Ketner (FR, Manteca) was the stronger finisher for the Athenas, shooting 81, 89 and 82 in each round respectively to give her a total score of 252, just 11 spots outside of the Top 20. Lauren Buchanan (JR, Los Altos Hills) was the number two golfer for CMS, shooting 257 for the three rounds.  In total the Athenas had seven birdies and 66 par shots for the tournament.
