Irish Leads Stags to Victory
The CMS golf team opened their spring season with a solid victory over The Master's College, ranked #6 in NAIA, in a dual match at Empire Lakes Golf Course. The Stags fired a 294 (+6) to finish six strokes ahead of The Master College who posted a 300 (+12).
Ryan Irish (SO, Gold River [pictured]) led the Stags with an impressive 70 (-2) to finish second overall behind medalist Thane Ringler of The Masters College who shot a 69 (-3). Tain Lee (JR, San Juan Capistrano) finished in third place with a 72 (E). Not far behind were Jordan Stein (FR, Glencoe, IL) and Robbie Garcia (FR, Pleasanton) who finished in fifth and sixth place with scores of 75 (+3) and 77 (+5). Rounding out the Stags were Michael Liu (JR, Tustin) and Vedant Jaitha (FR, Kolkata, India) who both posted an 81 (+9) to finish in the top ten. Individuals Aron Larson (FR, Wayzata, MN) and Chris Sercu (SR, Rancho Mirage) finished with rounds of 80 (+8) and 82 (+10) respectively.
The Stags hope to build on this win as they enter SCIAC play on February 14th at Redlands Country Club hosted by the University of Redlands.
