Josh Angle Repeats as First-Team Academic All-American

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Josh Angle earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Division III Men's Basketball Academic All-America first team for the second year in a row, the organization announced today.

Angle is currently attending Claremont Graduate University after earning both a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in finance from the Robert Day School at Claremont McKenna last spring. He was the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year last season, while being one of the 10 finalists for the Josten's Award, which combined athletic success, academic success and community service.

On the court, Angle earned one of the 10 selections to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball All-America first team in a vote from the National Association of Basketball Coaches, was named the Region X Player of the Year by both the NABC and D3hoops.com and was one of 20 players selected to the 2024 NABC Reese's Division III College All-Star Game, which was held in Fort Wayne, Indiana during championship week.

Angle graduated as the No. 3 all-time leading scorer in CMS history with 1647 points, after averaging 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season. He also set CMS records for three-pointers in a career (237) and single-season (83), breaking the old marks of 222 and 81, respectively.

CMS finished 22-7 and had its deepest NCAA Tournament run in program history, advancing to the sectionals at Hampden-Sydney with a regional championship. The Stags defeated St. Thomas (Texas) and Whitworth in a regional held at Cal Lutheran, with Angle scoring 30 points in the St. Thomas win and 21 against Whitworth.

During the regular season, Angle was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year, and then went on to earn the Most Outstanding Player of the SCIAC Postseason Championship, leading the Stags to narrow wins over Pomona-Pitzer and Cal Lutheran. He had 18 of his 20 points in the second half of the Pomona-Pitzer win, helping CMS to a 74-71 comeback win.

Angle finished his career as a 50-40-80 shooter, with career percentages of 50.5 percent from the floor, 41.7 percent from three, and 83.2 percent from the line.

Angle becomes the second first-team Academic All-America honoree for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this year, joining Georgia McGovern of the CMS volleyball team.
