CMS Men's Basketball Breaks 100 in Win over California Miramar

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Josh Angle and Rhett Carter each had 20 points to lead five players in double figures, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team rolled to a 104-60 win over California Miramar on Saturday at Roberts Pavilion.

Reid Jones added 17, Caelan Jones had 15 and Will Householter poured in 14 as CMS shot 53.8 percent from the floor on the day. Luke Jacobson added four points and a team-high 10 rebounds off the bench in only 16 minutes.

The Stags, who were missing five players with injuries, got well-rounded stat lines from their starters Angle, who returned after missing the second half of the Cal Lutheran game on Thursday with an injury, finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals. Reid Jones had 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, Caelan Jones had 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks, and James Frye added five points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

CMS also got strong bench contributions, as Householter had 14 points on 6-9 shooting to go with five rebounds, while Mike O'Brien had four points, three assists and three blocks. William Franks (three points) and Jonah Heimann (two points) each scored as well in their first action of the season.  

CMS held a 54-37 advantage on the glass, led by the 10 from Jacobson, and had 28 assists as a team to only 15 turnovers. Defensively, the Stags held Cal Miramar to only 29.0 percent shooting (20-69).

CMS will be back in action after a break for final exams when it takes on Buena Vista on Sunday, Dec. 17 for a 2 p.m. contest.
