Rhett Carter Wins Second Straight SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Rhett Carter captured the SCIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week honor for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team for games through Sunday, Feb. 19, the conference office announced today.

Carter completely dominated the defensive glass as CMS picked up a key home win over Redlands to secure no worse than the No. 2 seed and stay in the regular season title picture. He finished the game with 17 points and 18 rebounds, with 17 of his boards coming on the defensive end, while also adding three blocks in just 28 minutes. Carter accounted for half of CMS' 34 defensive rebounds.

It was the second straight SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for Carter and the sixth for the Stags this season, as Brian Kenyon captured it four times, including three in a row during the fall semester. 

CMS will be back in action tonight when it plays at Pomona-Pitzer in a battle for the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Stags will host a SCIAC Semifinal game on Friday night, and with a win, could have a rematch with Pomona-Pitzer again on Saturday.
