CMS Men's Basketball Dominates in 95-63 Road Win over Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. - After opening the year with a dominant win over No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor at Roberts Pavilion on Tuesday, the CMS men's basketball team had no letdown on the road as it took a 95-63 win over Lewis & Clark on Friday evening.

Josh Angle, who had a career-high 37 in the season opener, led CMS with 22 points on 8-10 shooting (6-8 from three-point territory), while Rhett Carter had 18 points on 8-12 shooting. With the win, CMS stands at 2-0 on the year, while Lewis & Clark opens at 0-1.

CMS left little doubt, jumping out to a 55-27 halftime lead. Carter had back-to-back baskets to put CMS ahead by double figures for the first time at 23-12. Stuart McCallum had four points around a Kiran Kruse three-pointer that stretched the lead to 35-18, and a Matt Meredith three-point play put CMS ahead by over 20 for the first time at 47-25.

The Stags ended the half on an 8-0 run to make it a 28-point lead, with a Justin Pratt jumper with four seconds left making it 55-27. An Angle three-pointer pushed it to 61-29 early in the second half, and the Stags put it on cruise control the rest of the way.

Kruse (13) and Pratt (12) were also in double figures for the Stags, who shot 63.6 percent as a team. Lucas Grandison, Cahal Connolly and Luke Jacobson each added their first collegiate points.

CMS will be back in action tomorrow when it takes on George Fox at 7 p.m.
