D3Hoops and NABC honor Scarlett with First Team Regional Awards

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Michael Scarlett (CMC) earned a pair of season-end accolades this week with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and d3hoops.com naming him First Team All-West. Scarlett was named First Team All-District by the NABC on Monday before earning First Team All-Region by d3hoops.com on Tuesday.

The awards come at the end of a tremendous senior season and career for the Stags' bearded guard. Scarlett led the Stags by averaging 19.7 points per game this season while shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 42.0 percent from beyond the arc. In addition to his scoring prowess, Scarlett grabbed 3.8 rebounds per game and dished out 2.5 assists per contest.

With Scarlett on the floor this season the Stags turned in a record of 19-3 while going just 1-5 without him in the line-up. CMS advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament this season before falling to the No. 1 Whitman Blues for the second year in a row. CMS' run in the second-half of the season featured 17-straight victories, the 20th SCIAC Championship, and sixth SCIAC Tournament Title in program history.

Scarlett was in the thick of the Stags' success this season. He earned his second-straight SCIAC David Wells Player of the Year award and First Team All-SCIAC honor for his play in the conference this season. Beyond the accolades, Scarlett's poise and confidence on the floor made his teammates better. With defenses regularly helping on defense to try and temper his impact on a game, the floor opens for his teammates.

Both First Team accolades are the second-straight honors for Scarlett. Last season Scarlett earned First Team West Region from d3hoops.com and First Team All-District by the NABC as well.

Scarlett ends his career with 1,319 points and sits in 10th place on the Stags' all-time scoring list.
