Stags climb into D3hoops.com Top-25

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Boasting a top-10 defense and three-point shooting percentage, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team earned their way into the D3hoops.com Top-25 rankings at No. 25. With 10 wins and only one loss, the Stags have played at a high level this season thanks to their defensive discipline and selfless teamwork.

CMS is ranked No. 10 in the nation on scoring defense, holding its opponents on average 62.9 points per game. The Stags have also proved to be one of the best at controlling the glass, out-rebounding their opponents on average by 11.0 boards per game, enough to be ranked No. 7 in the nation.

Relying on their ball movement and ability to find the open shot, the Stags have built an efficient offense that is ranked No. 12 with a 50.1 field goal percentage. CMS is also the sixth best three-point shooting team in the country, making 42.6 percent from beyond the arc. Part of the offense's success can be attributed to junior Michael Scarlett (CMC) who currently holds the fifth best three-point shooting percentage at 54.5 percent.

CMS will face Occidental College at home on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.
