Lane to play in international goodwill basketball tour

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball player Shelby Lane (CMC) is joining a team made up of collegiate players from Division I, II and III on a goodwill tour through Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, and England through the Global Sports Academy. As a not-for-profit organization, Global Sports Academy's mission is to create and arrange athletic competition between equally matched teams at all international levels, promote international goodwill and a better understanding between nations through sports.

During the 2014-15 season, Lane shot 55.2 percent from the field and led the Stags in rebounds with 209 – 152 defensive and 57 offensive – and blocks with 28. Lane is a rising senior on the CMS team.

The team from the Global Sports Academy will play six games in eight days against club teams while enjoying sight-seeing opportunities in the four countries. The group departs the United States Tuesday August, 11 and returns on Wednesday, Aug 19.

Davidson College's Abe Woldeslassie leads the team that includes Nasser Al-Rayes of Caltech, Daniel Aronowitz of Williams College, Tanner Brooks of St. Mary's College of Maryland, Jake Brown of Middlebury College, Tim Connolly of Kenyon College, Kevin Crescenzi of Dartmouth College, Austin Heins of Concordia College (MN), Cade Kloster of Fort Lewis College, and Tom Palleschi of Tufts University.
