Gaffaney Player of the Year, Pinson First Team All-SCIAC

PASADENA, Calif. – After winning the 17th SCIAC title in CMS history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team placed a pair of players in senior guards Tyler Gaffaney and Remy Pinson on the All-SCIAC team the conference announced on Wednesday, March 5.

Gaffaney was named the David Wells SCIAC Player of the Year.  In SCIAC play, Gaffaney led the Stags in scoring (19.6), rebounding (5.2/g), assists (3.7/g) and steals (1.3/g).  He finished in the top five among all SCIAC players in scoring (2nd), field goal percentage (60.8 - 2nd), three point percentage (47.6 - 3rd), free throw percentage (84.0 - 4th) and assists (4th).  He also finished ninth in steals and 14th in rebounding.  Gaffaney previously earned First Team All-SCIAC honors in 2012.

Pinson was named to the All-SCIAC First Team and also was named the Ted Ducey Award winner.  In SCIAC play, Pinson finished in the top 10 among all players in three point percentage (54.7 - 2nd), field goal percentage (53.8 - 8th) and scoring (14.1 - 9th).  He also finished 14th in steals (1.2/g) and 17th in assists (1.9/g).  The Ducey Award is based on athletic ability as well as the personal characteristics of leadership, self-discipline, determination and sportsmanship.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
