Men's Basketball SCIAC Tournament Information

The top four teams in SCIAC face off in the conference tournament on Friday and Saturday this week. In the semifinal games No. 1 seed CMS hosts No. 4 seed Cal Lutheran and No. 2 seed Pomona-Pitzer hosts No. 3 seed Chapman, both games on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. The final will be played at the highest remaining seed's house on Saturday, March 1. Check the men's basketball schedule for further game information. The winner of the final earns the automatic qualification to the NCAA tournament.

The Stags have won both games during the regular season against Cal Lutheran. On Jan. 15, CMS beat the Kingsmen 66-58 in Ducey Gym. Leading by 17 points partway through the second half, the Stags had to rally to close the door on Cal Lutheran who went on an 11-0 run. Despite the Kingsmen's surge, CMS, led by senior Remy Pinson and sophomore Nick Lund, remained calm and recorded the win with an eight point margin.

In their second meeting last weekend on Feb. 22, CMS soundly beat the Kingsmen 77-55. Four Stags scored in double digits: sophomores Jason Harrington and Shelby Lane and seniors Tyler Gaffaney and Remy Pinson. Lane produced a double-double on the night with 10 rebounds to complement his 12 points.

CMS went 15-1 during SCIAC regular season play, the best in program history, to capture the conference title, losing only to Pomona-Pitzer on Feb. 8 when the Sagehens hosted. The regular season championship is the program's 17th and 7th under Coach Scalmanini.
