Men's Basketball Headed To Wisconsin For NCAA Tournament

CMS, winner of the SCIAC regular season and tournament titles, will head to Whitewater, WI for a four-team sectional in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championships on March 2-3.  The Stags (25-2) will play University of St. Thomas (21-6), the defending national champions, at 5:30 (CST) on Friday.  Northwestern College (MN) (17-10) will face host UW-Whitewater (23-4) at 7:30.  The winners play Saturday at 7:00.

CMS will be making its 11th NCAA Tournament appearance and their third in four years.  St. Thomas is making its 13th appearance and their seventh straight.  The Stags and the Tommies have not faced each other this season, but have three common opponents.  St. Thomas won at Occidental in their season opener 82-61, won at Pomona-Pitzer 82-79 (2ot), beat St. Olaf at home 72-56 and won at St. Olaf 78-77.  CMS beat St. Olaf at home 82-74, beat Occidental at home (75-64) and away (55-47), won at Pomona-Pitzer 57-55, lost at home to Pomona-Pitzer 51-50 and then beat them at home 60-54.
