SCIAC Post-Season Tournament: Sixth Street Rivalry with Title on the Line

SCIAC Post-Season Tournament: Sixth Street Rivalry with Title on the Line

Not even Tennessee Williams could have written a better script. For the third season in a row, Claremont, California will be the host for the SCIAC Post-Season Tournament Final. In their third meeting of the season, the Stags will take on their Sixth-Street Rivals in the Sagehens at Ducey Gym to decide who will earn the SCIAC automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament. CMS and Pomona-Pitzer split their two previous meetings in the SCIAC Final (CMS won in 2009 and Pomona-Pitzer won in 2008).

The Stags have dominated the SCIAC in the regular season, finishing 11-3 and earning the top seed in the tournament; however, CMS is also 1-3 against the #2 and #3 seed in the tournament (0-2 against Pomona-Pitzer, 1-1 against Cal Lutheran).

Although the Stags were prepared to take on either team, a chance to avenge their only sweep of the season to their cross-street rivals adds even more suspense an already suspenseful cross-campus rivalry. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
