Stags Beat Kingsmen, Stay Tied For First

CMS (6-1 SCIAC, 14-4) stay tied for the top spot in the SCIAC conference standings by beating Cal Lutheran (2-5 SCIAC, 8-10) 70-60 in front of a home crowd at Ducey Gym.

CMS had a much better shooting performance than their last game, Wednesday night's Pomona-Pitzer loss, shooting 47% from the field on Saturday. The boards were owned by the Stags, outrebounding the Kingsmen 43-22. Chris Blees (JR, Carmichael) scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Stags. Joseph Anderson (SO, Lafayette [pictured]) had a solid game with 16 points on six for seven shooting and a season-best four for four from the line.  He also had seven rebounds including five on the offensive glass and a team-high three steals. Jason Toney (SR, Yorba Linda) also scored in double-figures with 11 points. The Kingsmen's star guard Kyle Knudsen also had a game-high 19 points and was a perfect six for six from the free-throw line.

The Stags look to carry their momentum into their next matchup when they play at Redlands on Wednesday, February 3 at 7:30 pm.  The game will be a battle for first place in the SCIAC as both teams are currently 6-1 in league play.  CMS won the first matchup on January 9 77-62.
