Stags Off To 4-0 Start

The men's basketball team is off to a strong start this season winning their first four contests. They were 2-0 at both the Caltech Tournament and the David Wells Classic. At Caltech, they jumped out to a 35-10 halftime lead against West Coast Baptist College and won 63-40. The next night they had to battle back from a 34-22 halftime deficit and won 61-59 over University of Dubuque. They beat Willamette University 60-50 at home on the first night of the Wells Classic. They beat Hope International University at Pomona-Pitzer the next night 51-48.

The team has had three different players lead the team in scoring. Mani Maceira (SR, Cotati) led the team with 21 against Dubuque and 24 against Hope International. Coury Clemens (SR, Santa Barbara) led with 18 points against Willamette and Dan Winterbottom (JR, Tempe, AZ) led with 12 against West Coast Baptist. Maceira has the season high in rebounds with nine against Willamette. Austin Soldner (SO, Southlake, TX) has the season high in assists with seven against Dubuque.

Maceira leads the team in scoring (17.8/g) and rebounding (6.5/g). Soldner leads in assists with 12 and Clemens leads in steals with 10. Clemens also leads in field goal percentage (70.8) and three-point percentage (62.5) while Maceira leads in free throw percentage (88.9).

The Stags travel to the Bay Area this weekend for two games. They play Dominican College of California on Friday, December 1 and then Menlo College on Saturday, December 2. Both games are at 7:30.
