Dylan Porter Named to D3Football.com National Team of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior middle linebacker Dylan Porter earned a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week for games through Sunday, Oct. 24, the website announced today.

Porter earned the D3football.com award one day after earning the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his role in a 27-0 win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday, which was the first shutout for the Stags since defeating Occidental in 2017.

In Saturday's contest, Porter set a new career high with 14 tackles, nine of which were solo, and 2.5 of which were for losses. He broke his old career high of 10 tackles, which he set in 2019, and helped hold the Kingsmen to only 143 yards of total offense and 2.5 yards per play.

The win improved CMS to 5-2 overall on the season and 2-1 in the SCIAC, keeping the Stags in the hunt for the league championship with three regular season games to play. CMS will try to keep it going this weekend when it returns home to face La Verne on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest, before closing out the regular season in November with games against Chapman and Pomona-Pitzer, two teams which the Stags defeated earlier this season in non-conference games.

Porter becomes the third Stag to be recognized by D3football.com on its national team of the week this season. The other two came in the same week, after CMS defeated No. 17 Chapman on Sept. 25, when Justin Edwards earned it at running back and Kirby Baynes was chosen at defensive back.
