Cheadle named to D3football.com Team of the Week
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Freshman Garrett Cheadle (HMC) is named to D3football.com's Team of the Week after his historic performance against Occidental College last Saturday. The running back broke the school record for rushing touchdowns in a game after finding the end zone five times en route to a 45-28 victory. The previous record was set by Chris Dabrow (4; 9/20/86 and 11/01/86) and Steve Endemano (4; 10/04/69).
In 32 rushing attempts, Cheadle ran for 214 total yards and averaged 6.7 yards per carry. The freshman had several highlight-worthy runs, including a 26-yard burst to the end zone during the third quarter to break the tie. Cheadle also broke out with a 68-yard run starting from the CMS 32 yard line later in the third quarter to give the Stags 38-21 lead.
This is the second Team of the Week accolade for the Stags this season and first for Cheadle.
CMS (4-0, 2-0 SCIAC) hosts Cal Lutheran (1-3, 1-1 SCIAC) on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. on Zinda Field.
