Julian Sanders Earns Spot on D3baseball Team of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Julian Sanders of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, the website announced today.

Sanders had a big role in helping CMS to a three-game sweep of Occidental, which vaulted the Stags up to fourth in the league standings, which would have them in the SCIAC Tournament if the season ended today.

Over the four games, Sanders batted .538 (7-for-13) with 10 RBIs and eight runs scored, belting four home runs and adding a double. He also walked times, giving him an OPS of 2.185 for the weekend.
His solo homer in the final game of the series put CMS up 8-4 and held up as the winning run in an 8-7 victory, while he opened the series with a three-run homer in the first inning of the first game to set the tone by making it 3-0 early.

Sanders becomes the second Stag to earn a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week this season, joining Andrew Mazzone, who captured it after a four-homer weekend in a four-game sweep of Southwestern Feb. 23-25.

CMS will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series with Caltech, including a road game on Friday and a doubleheader at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 11 a.m.
