Andrew Mazzone Named to D3Baseball National Team of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Andrew Mazzone of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned a spot on the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week, the website announced today.

Mazzone had a huge weekend to help CMS to a four-game series sweep at Southwestern (Texas) over the weekend. He batted 10-for-16 (.625) with four homers, a double, and 12 RBI as the Stags scored 61 runs over the four-game series.

Included in his aggregate total are three homers and 10 RBI in the Saturday doubleheader alone, when he hit a three-run bomb in the first game and followed it up with a three-run homer, a solo shot, and a three-run double in the nightcap.

CMS now stands at 7-0 on the season after also sweeping Chicago last weekend, with Mazzone hitting .571 with six homers and 18 RBI already on the year, giving him a 1.321 slugging percentage through seven games, and an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 1.946.

CMS will be back in action when it opens SCIAC play with a three-game series with Pomona-Pitzer, beginning with a single game at Pomona-Pitzer on Friday followed by a doubleheader at Azusa Pacific on Saturday (with Sunday as a potential rain date).
