Chapman Takes Series Finale from CMS Baseball

PASADENA, Calif. - After Claremont-Mudd-Scripps opened the weekend series with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday, Chapman was able to salvage the series finale with a 10-1 win over the Stags on Monday afternoon at Caltech's North Field.

With the win, Chapman improves to 2-5 on the year and 1-2 in the SCIAC, while CMS slips to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in league play with the loss. The game was shortened due to darkness after seven innings, after first pitch was pushed back to 3 p.m. due to afternoon rain.

Chapman was able to push across five runs in the top of the first inning, and starting pitcher AJ Anzai was able to pitch comfortably with the lead. He allowed just one run on a solo homer to Julian Sanders leading off the fourth, before coming out after finishing five innings of work to get the win.

Jake Tracey had a solid two innings of relief for CMS, striking out three and allowing no runs on one hit, while Dominic Rolla had a scoreless inning out of the pen as well.

CMS will be back in action for a three-game series this weekend with Pomona-Pitzer, opening up with a single game at Biola on Friday afternoon, before playing a doubleheader at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.
