CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Stags dropped a Saturday afternoon contest with the visiting Puget Sound Loggers by a 14-6 final score. The Loggers scored 10 times in the first two innings to build a 10-1 lead before winning by a comfortable 14-6 margin. CJ Novogradac (CMC) led the Stags' offense with a pair of hits on the day. Five different Stags collected RBI on the afternoon and Trey Smith (CMC) slashed the only extra-base hit, ripping an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth.
The Loggers struck for a run in the top of the first inning, scoring on a fielding error. After the Stags left a pair of runners on in a scoreless bottom of the first, Puget Sound broke the game open with nine runs in the top of the second. The Loggers used six hits and took advantage of a pair of CMS errors to take a 10-0 lead.
Carson Bridges (CMC) came in to score in the bottom of the second on an error and CMS plated four runs in the fifth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Bridges and RBI base hits from Chase Eller (CMC), Smith, and Henri Levenson (CMC). The four-run fifth made it a 14-5 game.
In the eighth, Ryan Motter (CMC) drove home a run with a single through the left side of the infield before the game was called for darkness with Puget Sound earning the 14-6 victory.
