Maya Love - Women's Basketball

Last week the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team went 2-0 to clinch a share of the 2017-18 SCIAC Championship. The Championship came down to the final game of the season with the Athenas and Panthers battling in Roberts Pavilion for the title and top seed in the SCIAC Tournament. Maya Love turned in, arguably, her best game of the season scoring 19 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in the contest against Chapman.

Maya Love paced the Athenas all night long, finishing with 19 points and 20 rebounds in the most important game of the season. Love had already collected a double-double prior to half-time with 11 points and 12 rebounds. She finished the game, 7-10 from the field while collecting two steals, two assists, and one block.

While she does have one other 20-20 game this season (at Occidental – Jan. 8), Love’s big game on Saturday help hand the Panthers their first SCIAC loss of the season. She finished the regular season with 12 double-doubles and is the only player in the SCIAC averaging a double-double on the season (13.0 ppg and 10.9 rpg).

The Athenas will open the SCIAC Tournament on Thursday when they host Redlands at 7:00 p.m. in Roberts Pavilion.
