Aly Young - Women's Basketball

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Coming off two solid games last week (Nov. 28 – Dec. 4), senior Aly Young (CMC) is named Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athlete of the Week. The center was efficient in the post against Pomona-Pitzer (Nov. 3) and Westmont (Dec. 3), scoring 22 total points and going 62.5 percent from the field. Her presence in the paint opened up the floor for her teammates to find space to score.

In a major 43-point blowout victory over cross-street rival Pomona-Pitzer, Young dominated in the paint. In only 17 minutes of play, Young scored 14 points off the bench, going 7-for-10 from the field. The senior also recorded five rebounds and had two blocks. In a tough 62-49 loss against Westmont, the No. 2 NAIA program in the nation, Young held her own down low. The center converted on three of six attempts and made both her free throws for eight points.

Young has been a vital post option off the bench, averaging 5.9 points per game and is scoring 47.5 percent from the field this season.
