Amy Johnson - Women's Soccer

CLAREMONT, Calif. – After playing a crucial role for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s soccer team in their two wins this past week, senior Amy Johnson (CMC) is named CMS Athlete of the Week. The central midfielder was a stabilizing force for the Athenas, as her excellent touch on the ball and tenacious defending were key to allowing CMS to control possession.

In the October 19th match against University of La Verne, Johnson denied the Leopards from having quality chances at goal, breaking up any buildup plays from the opposition. In addition, she managed to set well-placed passes to her teammates and allowed them to operate the offense at ease, leading to a 2-0 victory.

Johnson once again established her presence in the Athenas’ 2-1 victory over Redlands, disrupting the opposing offensive and giving her teammates freedom to run the offense. The midfielder even made some brilliant runs on offense, flashing some nifty dribbling to evade defenders and finding her teammates in the box.

Amy Johnson has played a total of 1,294 minutes this season, the second highest on the team behind Jacey Coniff, and started in all but one game this season.
