Skyler Butts – Men’s Tennis
(4/18 – 4/24) – Senior Skyler Butts (CMC) won his first Division III title at the prestigious Ojai Tournament and defended his doubles title (with partner Daniel Morkovine). En route to the finals, Butts won four singles and three doubles matches over three days. In the singles finals, Butts defeated his own teammate and doubles partner Morkovine 7-6(5), 6-4. In the doubles final, the pair beat Graham Maassen and Spencer Simonides of Pomona-Pitzer 6-3, 7-6 (1). Butts ultimately went 9-0 on the weekend.
CMS plays its final dual match of the season before the SCIAC tournament when they travel to San Diego next Saturday, April 30. The Stags will face UCSD, ranked 17th in Division II.
On April 26, Butts was also selected as the SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week.
