Trey Smith - Football

(10/12 – 10/18) – Trey Smith (CMC) played an instrumental role in the CMS football team’s come-from-behind, 45-42 win over Occidental on Oct. 24 at Zinda Field. Down 42-29 with 1:29 remaining in the game, CMS needed a pair of touchdowns to win and the Stags’ sophomore wideout came through. With 28 seconds remaining, quarterback Trey Reynolds (CMC) connected with Smith in the back of the end zone for a 26-yard touchdown pass which narrowed Occidental’s lead to 42-36. After CMS recovered the onside kick, the Trey connection worked again as Smith scored on a 4-yard touchdown with five seconds left which give CMS the win. Smith had three of his team-high seven catches in the final two drives. For the afternoon, he caught seven passes for 119 yards, an average of 17 yards per catch, with his longest catch being a 26-yarder.
