Bio

Respected as one of the best football players in Stags history, Long was among the most aggressive and effective defensive tackles in the SCIAC in the late 1960s. He was a force on and off the field, and was recognized throughout his career with numerous conference and national awards. He helped set a championship standard for the football program that led to its first championship in school history in 1970. Individual accolades:  second-team All-NAIA District 3 Defensive Tackle (1967), All West District Honorable Mention (1968, 1969), first-team All-SCIAC Defensive Tackle (1967), All-SCIAC Honorable Mention (1968), second-team All-SCIAC (1969) and team captain (1969). He lettered in football for three years.
