Bio

Messana competed for four years on the track & field team and two seasons on the men's soccer team. In track, he dominated SCIAC competition in the sprints, and brought recognition to the CMS track program as a six-time SCIAC champion and 10-time All-America. At the time, he was the only sprinter, male or female, in Division III history to be an All-America for four years in the 100 meters and 200m sprints. Upon induction in 2004, his school records still stood. Track & field achievements: 10-time NCAA All-America in 100m (1986, 1987, 1988, 1989), 200m (1986, 1987, 1988, 1989), 4x400 relay (1988, 1989). Six-time SCIAC champion in 100m (1987, 1988), 200m (1986, 1987, 1988), 4x400 relay (1988), SCIAC Athlete of the Year (1987, 1988), Team MVP (1987, 1988, 1989). Records set: 100m (10.52), 200m (21.26) and 4x400 relay (3:12.60). Soccer achievements: second-team All-SCIAC (1985).
