Bio

Hardinge served as the Stags' team captain for each of his three seasons (1964-65, 1965-66, 1966-67), and swam on the 1967 NAIA national championship team. The 1966-67 Stags were the first Claremont team to win a national championship in department history. He has seven NAIA All-American selections to his name: 100 backstroke (1967), 200 backstroke (1966, 1967), 200 individual medley (1966), 400 individual medley (1966), 400 medley relay (1966, 1967). He won five SCIAC titles, three of which came in the 200 backstroke (1965, 1966, 1967). His other SCIAC titles were in the 200 individual medley (1966) and 400 medley relay (1966). He graduated as the CMS record holder in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley, and 1650 freestyle. He also was on the CMS record-setting 400 medley and 800 freestyle relay teams.
