Schedules released for fall sports

CLAREMONT, Calif. – With the beginning of the academic year just around the corner, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has the fall sports schedules already populating the calendar. In the fall, CMS sponsors football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball, and men's water polo. Here is a short preview of the schedules of each of our teams. Also, check the Alumni Athletic Events schedule for more information as it becomes available for upcoming alumni games, meets, and matches.

Football – Full Schedule
The Stags have nine games, four of which are at home. This season, they travel to Virginia to face Washington and Lee, who is D3football.com's No. 20 pick in the preseason poll. The Stags host the defending SCIAC champs, La Verne on Oct. 29 and then close out the season across the street at Pomona-Pitzer on Nov. 12 over Hall of Fame Weekend.

Men's Soccer – Full Schedule
The men's soccer team hosts two of the top-4 teams from the Northwest Conference – Pacific Lutheran and Pacific (Ore.) – before getting into the dense 16-game SCIAC schedule wrapping up with Senior Night on Oct. 29 against Whittier. Stag and Athena soccer alumni are welcomed back for the annual alumni game on Sept. 25 with lunch to follow.

Women's Soccer – Full Schedule
The women's team plays 20 games, nine at home. This season, the Athenas travel to San Antonio, Tex. for contests against two top-25 NSCAA preseason ranked teams in Trinity (Tex.) and Hardin Simmons on Sept. 9 and 11. Immediately after returning from Texas, CMS hosts Pomona-Pitzer and then Cal Lutheran on Sept. 17 to avenge the SCIAC semi-final game at the end of the 2015 season. Both soccer teams host alumni games on Sept. 25.

Cross Country – Men's Schedule | Women's Schedule
The cross country season opens up with the Nationball Classic on Sept. 3 with the SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet a month later on Oct. 1. A portion of the team will travel to Waterford, Conn. for the Connecticut Invitational on Oct. 15 and then finish up the regular season on Oct. 29 with the SCIAC Championships at Prado Park in Chino, Calif.

Women's Volleyball – Full Schedule
The CMS volleyball team's 24-game season begins by hosting the annual Pacific Coast Classic for the first events in Roberts Pavilion. In the first two weeks of the season, the Athenas face three top-25 AVCA preseason ranked teams in No. 4 Emory, No. 6 Washington University, St. Louis, and No. 10 Hendrix. During the regular season, CMS will play conference foe and 2015 National Champion Cal Lutheran twice, hosting the Regals in Roberts on Sept. 24.

Men's Water Polo – Full Schedule
The Stag water polo team competes in four tournaments before hosting the annual Gary Troyer Tournament on Oct. 7-8. In the 28-game regular season, the Stags are home for just nine games. CMS jumps right into tough competition facing Pepperdine and Stanford in the first weekend in the UC San Diego Tournament. Other notable opponents outside of the SCIAC are 2015 National Champion UCLA on Oct. 1, California on Sept. 18, and then they host Air Force on Nov. 6.
