Lim and Johnson Named SCIAC Athletes Of The Week

Crystal Lim and Alex Johnson were selected SCIAC Athletes of the Week for the week of May 9-15.

Lim went 4-0 in singles and doubles to help lead the #12 Athenas into the NCAA Championship quarterfinals after a 5-3 win over #15 Chapman and a 5-2 win over #7 Pomona-Pitzer. Lim partnered with Kristin Lim at #1 doubles and won 8-3 against Chapman and 8-2 against Pomona-Pitzer. The 13th-ranked singles player in the West Region, Lim won at #2 singles 6-0, 6-4 against Chapman's Kelley Fox (#10 West) and 6-0, 6-2 against Pomona-Pitzer's Kara Wong (#17 West).  CMS (21-3) will face Williams in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Johnson clinched the #3 Stags' 5-3 win at #4 UC Santa Cruz in the third round of the NCAA Championships with a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 win at #3 singles. Johnson, #9 singles in the West, was down 5-1, love-40 in the final set to Parker Larson, #11 singles in the West, and fought off six match points while winning the final six games of the match. Johnson was leading 6-0, 4-4 in Stags' match against UT-Tyler in the second round when CMS clinched their 5-0 win. CMS (27-3) will face Williams in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
