SCIAC Dual Meet ends in Sweep for Athenas

LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's cross country team brought out the brooms as the Athenas swept through the SCIAC Dual Meet 7-0. Despite the high number of slopes at La Mirada Regional Park, the Athenas managed to see four runners in the top-10 and seven in the top-15. The Athenas scored 31 points overall to secure the sweep. Bryn McKillop (SC) took first overall at 21:27.66 while Lauren Hamilton of Pomona-Pitzer took second at 21:34.90.

Roselyn Cantu (CMC) was the second-highest finisher for CMS, taking third overall at 21:46.27. Despite staying in the middle of the pack for majority of the course, Cantu managed to leg it out in the final slope of the course to secure the high finish.

First year Abigale Johnson (SC) was the highest finisher in her class, taking seventh place with a time of 22:02.33 while Malea Martin (CMC) took eighth overall at 22:10.67.

Kyleigh Mann (CMC) secured the final scoring spot for the Athenas, taking 12th overall at 22:25.82. Finishing right behind her were Matilda Msall (SC) at 22:31.30 and Sami Murphy (CMC) at 22:38.86.

The Athenas will take a break next weekend before splitting up to compete on October 14 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational at 8:00 a.m. and the Pre Nationals in St. Louis, MO at 10:00 a.m.
