Greg Lonzo enters his 16th season at the helm of the CMS Men's and Women's Water Polo programs in 2023-24.
Lonzo has led his two programs to the national championship game of the USA Water Polo Division III nationals three times in the five tournaments since the inaugural season it began in 2019-20. The Athenas qualified in 2023 for the first time, and nearly brought home the national title, before falling by just one goal in overtime. The Stags also finished as a close runner-up twice (5-3 in 2019 and 10-9 in overtime in 2021) in the first two seasons of the tournament.
Lonzo is a 2002 graduate of Pepperdine University with a degree in Business Administration. He was a four-year varsity player and is the career leader in goals scored at Pepperdine, and was a three-time All-American and runner-up for National Player of the Year in 2002.
Lonzo has previously served as the Head Coach at the Riverside Water Polo Club, coaching both an 18-under and a 16-under team. He also served two years as an assistant coach at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps before taking over the head coaching position, and worked in over 20 water polo camps representing Pepperdine.
