Bio

Jack Coberly joined the Athenas’ bench for the 2017 season and is entering his sixth season with the Athenas during the 2022-23 academic year. 

Coberly brought an extensive coaching resume to the Athenas. After playing men’s volleyball for the U.S. Air Force Academy, Coberly made coaching stops at Humboldt State, Rocky Mountain Thunder Professional Volleyball Team, Boulder Volleyball Club, Webb Schools, Club West Volleyball Club, and Pacific Juniors Volleyball Club.

From 1998-2003, Coberly was the head coach for the University of La Verne men’s volleyball team. During his six seasons with the Leopards, his teams made four trips to the Final Four including two national runner-up finishes (1998 and 2002) and a national championship in 1999. The Leopards finished in the top ten nationally every season that Coberly was on the bench. For the last four years prior to joining CMS, Coberly served as an assistant for the La Verne women’s team.

Coberly is a member of the Humboldt State Hall of Fame. He holds a California Standard Lifetime Teaching Credential and co-authored the book Rookies Guide to Coaching Volleyball.
