Dede Carranza Earns Second SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award for CMS Volleyball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior libero Dede Carranza earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team for events through Sunday, Sept. 17, the conference office announced today.

Carranza had 27 digs in a three-set match against No. 1 Juniata, which fell just 11 shy of her career high which came in a five-set match. She had 48 digs over a 2-1 weekend for CMS at the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational, and had 24 service returns with only one error. 

Carranza, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in the SCIAC, also captured the first Defensive Player of the Week honor after CMS won all three of its matches at the Pacific Coast Classic on Sept. 1-2. 

CMS will next be in action when it opens SCIAC play at home against Chapman on Friday night at 7 p.m.
