Abraham, McKillop Ready for Indoor National Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. – In the program's first year participating in indoor track and field, two Athenas will be representing CMS at the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Tyra Abraham (SC) and Bryn McKillop (SC) are making the trip to Alabama to compete in the National Championships hosted at the Birmingham CrossPlex by Birmingham-Southern College. Both Abraham and McKillop qualified with strong performances at the Seattle Pacific Final Qualifier on Feb. 24. The meet is set for this weekend, with events beginning on Friday.

Abraham will be competing in the 60 meter dash this weekend. The 2016 Outdoor 100 meter dash National Champion, turned in the fourth best time in Division III in the 60 meter dash this season. She won the Seattle Pacific Final Qualifier with a time of 7.66. She is seeded just two hundredths of a second behind the third seed, Amber Celen of Bridgewater College. UMass Boston's Wadeline Jonathas holds the top qualifying mark in the pack of 17 runners with a time of 7.43.

Abraham will compete in the prelims of the 60 meter dash on Friday afternoon at approximately 2:15 p.m. CT/12:15 p.m. PT. Should she advance to the finals, Abraham would compete for a National Championship at 2:35 p.m. ET/12:35 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Bryn McKillop will compete in the 3000 meter run this weekend in Alabama. McKillop is seeded 16th in the event heading into the National Championships. Her time of 9:49.43 at the Seattle Pacific Final Qualifier earned the 2017 Cross Country National Runner-Up a spot in her first Indoor National Championship event. Emily Richards of Ohio Northern holds the top seed entering the weekend at 9:23.61.

There are no prelims for the 3000 meter run, as a result, McKillop and the rest of the 17-runner field will compete for a National Championship on Saturday evening at 4:45 p.m. CT/2:45 p.m. PT.
