Bio

Maureen Slattery enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team in 2020-21. 

Slattery joins the Athenas after most recently working with her alma mater at the University of Denver. Slattery joined the Pioneers as an interim assistant coach in 2019 after spending the previous two seasons  in her hometown of Newport News, Virginia as an assistant coach at Christopher Newport University. During her tenure as an assistant at CNU, she helped guide the Captains to a combined 26-14 record.

Slattery earned All-Summit League team selections on three different occasions during her playing days for Denver. She began her collegiate career by being named the 2014 ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year, and then capped it off as a senior by earning the 2017 Summit League Player of the Year. 

In her senior year, Slattery advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Doubles Championships with partner Julia O'Loughin, with the duo becoming the program's first All-Americans. In the NCAA team championships, Slattery picked up a key 6-2, 6-2 singles win in the opening round against USC, helping the Pioneers to a 4-2 upset win which enabled them to become the first Summit League team to advance in the NCAA Tournament. In the second round, she and O'Loughlin won their doubles match against No. 7 Texas Tech, and Slattery won her first set in singles, but the match was left unfinished as the Red Raiders were able to clinch a 4-1 win.

Slattery graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in economics in 2017.
