
CMS Women's Tennis Defeats UT Dallas 5-1 to Advance to NCAA Regional Finals
RICHARDSON, Texas - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team lead 2-1 after doubles and got quick singles wins from Audrey Yoon, Sena Selby and Lindsay Eisenman as it defeated UT Dallas 5-1 in the NCAA Regional Semifinals on Saturday.
With the win, CMS improves to 23-1 on the season with its 19th straight win, and advances through to the regional finals tomorrow against Pomona-Pitzer.
Eisenman won in both singles and doubles, teaming with Ella Brissett for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles, while Nikolina Batoshvili and Alisha Chulani earned an 8-2 win at No. 1.
Selby was the first to earn a singles point, as she captured a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles to give CMS a 3-1 lead. Yoon finished off a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 to stretch it to 4-1 and Eisenman finished it off with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Batoshvili and Chulani were each up a set when their matches were halted, while Brissett was up 2-0 in the second after falling in a tiebreaker in the first.
CMS and Pomona-Pitzer will meet for the third time in three weeks. The Athenas won the first meeting in the regular season finale 5-4 to earn the top seed in the SCIAC Tournament, then defeated the Sagehens again in the SCIAC Finals 5-3.
