Seven Athenas Capture ITA Scholar-Athlete Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Seven members of the national championship CMS women's tennis team earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while the Athenas earned All-Academic Team honors.

Scholar-Athlete honors are given to student-athletes who earned at least a 3.5 GPA during the academic year, while All-Academic Team honors are presented to teams which carry at least a 3.2 GPA collectively. 

Seniors Crystal Juan, Sydney Lee, Georgia Tuckerman and Devon Wolfe earned Scholar-Athlete distinction, as did junior Gabby Lee, sophomore Sena Selby and first-year Ella Brissett

CMS finished the year with a 27-3 record and captured the second national championship in program history, defeating top-ranked Chicago 5-1 in the finals. The Athenas lost only three points in five matches in the NCAA Tournament, winning by 5-0 shutout three times, including against previously undefeated Wesleyan in the semifinals.
