Nikolina Batoshvili Becomes Third Athena to Win SCIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Nikolina Batoshvili earned the SCIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors for matches through Sunday, March 13, the league office announced today.

Batoshvili provided wins in both singles and doubles as No. 4 CMS took down No. 2 Emory on Friday by a 7-2 final. She earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles and an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles as the Athenas avenged a 6-3 defeat to the Eagles at the ITA Indoor nationals.

In subsequent matches, Batoshvili also added a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles in a 5-2 win over Division I Bowling Green, coming back from down 5-2 in the second set, and added an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles in a 9-0 win over Babson, along with Alisha Chulani.

Batoshvili becomes the third different Athena to win the award so far this season, after Crystal Juan and Sydney Lee each captured it earlier in the year.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Amherst in a key Division III battle at 10 a.m.
