Jacque Desmond Wins One-Meter in Dual Diving Meet with Westminster
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Jacque Desmond, who has won two SCIAC Women's Diver of the Week Awards so far this season, continued her strong campaign in the one-meter by finishing first out of 11 competitors in a dual meet with Westminster at Axelrood Pool on Sunday.
Desmond, who won the one-meter in a SCIAC tri-meet with Occidental and Caltech, and again in a dual with Pomona-Pitzer, finished with a score of 245.9 over her six dives, defeating Kaitlyn Fast of Westminster by almost 20 points (226.0). Sophomore Emily Bhatt was just behind Fast with a 225.05 to come in third place.
The three-meter saw Bhatt finish in third place with a 214.5, as Jamie Elia (227.55) and Zoe Cable (222.65) finished a close 1-2. Desmond ended up fifth with a 178.15 in the three-meter.
In addition to the dual with six divers from Westminster in the one-meter, Desmond also defeated two SCIAC divers from La Verne (Sara Bartelt and Zochilt Hermeg), who competed in the event as well. Her win enabled CMS to win three of the four individual events on the day, as Kendell Hollimon swept the one-meter and three-meter for the Stags.
CMS will be back in action when it returns to SCIAC competition with a road meet at Whittier on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
