CLAREMONT, Calif. - Jenna Urrabazo scored once in each half as the Chapman women's soccer team took a 2-0 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday evening at Pritzlaff Field.
With the win, Chapman moves to 2-0-3 on the season, and 1-0-1 in conference play, while the Athenas slip to 1-4-1 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Urrabozo scored the first goal of the game at the 15:09 mark when she took a diagonal pass from Sidney Karjian and scored into the upper left corner.
CMS had a great chance to tie off a corner kick in the second half, but McKenzie Emmons' header deflected off a Chapman defender and hit off the crossbar.
The Panthers sealed the win with 7:50 to go when Hilina'i Schenk won a ball near midfield and played a through ball in to Urrabazo for her second goal of the game.
Aaliyah Bustamante had three saves to earn the shutout for the Panthers. CMS did hold a 16-7 edge in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks, but Chapman was able to withstand the pressure and protect its lead.
CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Redlands for a 7 p.m. contest.
