CMS Women's Golf Places Four an All-SCIAC Teams
Claremont, Calif. - Esther Lee and Stella Cheng of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team were named first-team All-SCIAC, and Jessie Kong and Christine Yu earned spots on the second team, the conference office announced today.
Lee, who was the SCIAC Athlete of the Year a year ago, earned a spot on the first team for the second straight season. She finished tied for fifth in the SCIAC Championship, including an even-par 72 in the final round to help the Athenas win the team title.
Cheng captured first-team honors for the third year in a row after a top-10 finish at SCIACs. She shot an even par in the second round, and birdied the 16th and 17th holes in the final round to help CMS to hold off a late Pomona-Pitzer rally for the team title.
Kong earned All-SCIAC honors with a third-place finish at the league championships. She shot a 70 (-2) in the final round, which included seven birdies, with three in the final five holes.
Yu shot a 71 in the final round to help CMS secure the team title, finishing in 13th place. She also tied for first place at the second regular season SCIAC tournament at Mountain Meadows.
CMS will return to action at the NCAA Championships in two weeks at Keene Chase in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
