CMS Women's Golf Earns Team Title at Chapman Quad
COSTA MESA, Calif. - Jessie Kong and Esther Lee tied for the low round of the day, each shooting a 72, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team took first place at the Chapman Quad, which also included the host Panthers, Occidental and La Verne, on Sunday at Costa Mesa Golf Club.
CMS finished at +11 with a 295 to defeat Chapman by five strokes and Occidental by six. La Verne was fourth, 20 shots back of the Athenas.
Lee picked up birdies on No. 1 and No. 18, with the finishing hole enabling her to pull into a tie for individual medalist honors with Kong had two birdies on No. 9 and No. 15. The two Athenas finished two shots ahead of three players tied for third, including Stella Cheng, who finished with a 74 in a round that included back-to-back birdies on No. 6 and No. 7.
Christine Yu was the fourth scorer for CMS with a 77, while Emily Zhou had a 76, but was competing as an individual.
CMS will be back in action when it closes out its fall season with a dual against La Verne on Oct. 20.
