CMS Women's Golf End Up Third at SCIAC No. 2

POMONA, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team improved by six shots on the second day of SCIAC No. 2 with a 298, but was unable to catch the two teams in front and ended up third on Sunday at the Mountain Meadows Golf Club.

Redlands was the only team to shoot better than the Athenas today with a 296, and ended up finishing at +27, 15 shots ahead of CMS. Pomona-Pitzer, which held the opening round lead with a 288, shot 302 on Sunday and ended up in second place at +30.

Jeissy Lee led the way for CMS overall with a seventh place finish at +9, with a strong finish of even par over her final 13 holes after a slow start on Sunday. 

Esther Lee also earned at top-10 (tied for ninth) with a +11, including three birdies on her back nine. Irene Jun was just outside the top 10 in 11th at +12, and Stella Cheng was tied for 15th at +14, shooting 1-under on the back nine.

CMS will be back in action next weekend at UC Santa Cruz in its final tuneup for the SCIAC Championships on April 23-25 at Olivas Links in Ventura.
